This 2.2L 4 cylinder 2003 Alero gives me a very bad (high) gas mileage - mostly below 20 mpg. My last check on this showed me 18.4 mpg! Yes, it is a big 4 cylinder engine (2.2L), but the gas mileage shouldn't be that high. On the other hand, the car runs great.

The transmission failed at 12000 miles. The paint started peeling off right after we bought it. It had a problem with the rear brakes locking up, this caused it's well deserved demise.

Alternator went bad a couple of months ago. Now the battery warning light comes on every now and then, which has me worried. The driver side power windows are damaged. The plastic clips holding the window to the regulator fell apart. I believe they were glued back together.

Constant problem with the ABS system 7 wheel bearings on the front. I have had these replace numerous times and still have to have it done every 4 months (approx. it could be the parts I'm getting, but I have had two mechanics look at it and result in the same problem.
