GYPSUM - A few weeks later, they were still at it. Baseball rivals Eagle Valley and Glenwood went wire-to-wire two weeks ago in a 9-8 Demons' walk-off homer win. Thursday in Gypsum, the script was nearly the same.

GYPSUM - It started when the Devils' Kevin Mansfield blasted a double and ended with him standing in the on-deck circle. Eagle Valley used a nine-run, two-out rally to turn what could have been a long, cold and winless Saturday into a long, cold doubleheader sweep of Steamboat in Gypsum.

GYPSUM - If there were such an event as a track doubleheader, Eagle Valley can claim gold. Less than 12 hours after finishing first for the girls and second for the boys at a meet in Rifle Friday night, the Devils were back at home, hosting their Invitational Saturday morning.

RIFLE - Saturday night was Eagle Valley's prom. Earlier on Saturday, the Eagle Valley track and field team had its home meet. And Friday night, the Devils and Huskies had another full track meet at Rifle.

GYPSUM - Without the mesa, Cotton Ranch Golf Club just isn't the same. Monday, the Eagle Valley girls' golf team didn't get a chance to show off their favorite part of their home course as stormy weather cut short the Eagle Valley Invitational.
