Two Sampson County residents have been charged with drug, alcohol and weapons offenses after police responded to a call of public drinking at Royal Lane Park Saturday afternoon and found the two in possession of marijuana and open containers, as well as a gun in one of the men’s vehicles, according to police reports.

Investigators are looking into possible links among Tuesday morning’s brutal robbery of a 60-year-old man near Hawthorne Place, the ambush of a runner in Washington Park on July 17 and the beating and robbery of a woman May 4 on her front porch near English Street and Fayette Avenue.
